Another couple of weeks of learning and fun for Year Two!
In English we have read the ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ and have been using the text to use in our English lessons. We have been learning all about verbs, adverbs and adjectives to use for the main character, George the Giant. To put all of these things together, we then learnt about conjunctions to make a super sentence!
In Maths we have been continuing to build upon our place value knowledge by looking at number lines. We have looked at number lines that go up in 1s and 10s and then estimated where a number would sit on a number line. Can you draw your own number line and get an adult to place a correct number upon it?
In Geography we have continued to look at our continents and our oceans. We know where they are on a map, and we even put together a puzzle of the world map! Ask us what the continents and oceans are – or get us to test you!
In PSHE we have been focusing on kindness, including what being a good friend looks like and what we think is unkind. RE has a similar focus, where we have been learning all about Christianity, and ‘The Kind Man’ story, also known as the Samaritan story.
In computing we have been looking at IT outside of school, to include the IT we would find indoors and outdoors, for example speed cameras and tills.
Finally, in Science we have been looking at living, dead and never been alive, making predictions about what we would find more out of these categories both in and around the play equipment and the front of school. Ask us about our predictions! We then collected data by counting each time we saw something living, dead or never been alive and placed this information in a table using a tally. Can you remember what a tally is?
