Science has been great fun this term so far as the children become more and more inquisitive about the wonders of the human body. The Yr 6 teachers have been really impressed by their insightful questions and observations about all aspects of the topic. They have been extremely creative with their ideas about what could happen if… we had a flexible skeleton or …if we stood on our head for a long time.
Today was great fun, as we made a model of a working lung and we were able to associate all the parts of our models with real features of the respiratory system. It’s definitely not just a plastic bottle with some straws, balloons and some play-dough; some of the successful models can be seen with a diaphragm pulled down to cause the lungs inside the rib-cage to actually inflate. This year was an all-time high, as Pandas managed to get every single lung to inflate and there was a pretty high success rate in Koalas too – well done Yr 6!!
