We have had a busy end of the term in Dolphins Class!
In English, we have been researching, writing and publishing fact files about different biomes. We were inspired by our learning in Geography lessons and by looking at the book ‘The Incredible Ecosystems of Planet Earth’ which has beautiful illustrations. We created our own pages for the book which took creativity and perseverance from all of the class. They ended up looking brilliant and are full of lots of interesting facts!
In Art, we have been working on perspective. When drawing a landscape picture, we wanted to make sure it looked realistic. To do this we learnt about the horizon line, vanishing point and lines of perspective. We now know that as things get further away, they become smaller and closer together. We also learnt that colours will appear faded and lighter as they move from the foreground to the background. We tried these skills out in a few different landscape drawings.
In Science, we have been learning about the different stages in the water cycle. To help us learn and to demonstrate this, we have created a water cycle in a bag. Currently, they are all in our window and we have been interested to see the different stages in action in the bags. It has been clear to see evaporation, condensation and precipitation happening throughout the day.
