Year 6 got excited about debating during the last week of term: Should Deforestation in the Amazon be Banned?
All pupils were against the idea, but we needed opposition to the motion and I am thrilled to say, that they really rose to the occasion. In the guise of illegal loggers, cattle farmers, fast food restaurant owners and even Jair Balsonaro himself, children argued fervently about their rights to continue developing the rainforest for a wide range of reasons. It was hotly contested of course, by Sir David Attenborough and other environmentalists and scientists, but in the end the children all agreed that “the lungs of the earth” must be protected.
