In English, we have been creating shape poetry inspired by the book Apes to Zebras. We had lots of opportunities to read a variety of animal shape poems and then had the chance to write our own. The children were full of creative and figurative language and produced some amazing shape poems based on animals from bees to penguins!
In science this term, we have been learning about electricity. This has been a fascinating topic where we have been building and understanding circuits. We have learnt about the key parts of a circuit and now know that a circuit has to be complete in order to work. We have identified the scientific symbols for each part of a circuit and have drawn different circuits using these. We have also tested different materials to see if they are conductors (allow electricity through) or insulators (do not allow electricity to pass through).
Our geography unit this term has been investigating rivers. We have used a variety of geography skills to learn more about the stages of a river and how we use water. We have looked at satellite images and maps of the river Thames and spotted the features of the river as it flowed from the source to the mouth.
