This term, Year 6 have been working diligently across a wide range of subjects, demonstrating growth and enthusiasm in everything they do. In English, they have focused on writing balanced arguments, finishing the term with a thoughtful discussion text on deforestation. This allowed them to explore a current issue and practice presenting well-rounded points of view.
In Maths, we have been sharpening our skills in statistics and percentages, with students learning how to draw and interpret various graphs and charts, applying their mathematical knowledge to real-world data.
In Art, we have been looking back at David Hockney. We created a landscape inspired by his style of art. We practised watercolour and oil pastel techniques to get tone, shade and texture.
Our History lessons have been both fascinating and insightful, as we delved into the topic of crime and punishment throughout British history. Students have compared and contrasted the different methods of punishment used over the centuries, gaining a deeper understanding of how society’s views on justice have evolved.
In Science, we’ve explored the world of living things, focusing on classification systems to understand how organisms are grouped. We’ve also ventured into the microscopic world, learning about microorganisms—tiny living things that can only be seen with a microscope. To end the term, the students conducted an exciting experiment to test if yeast is a living organism by observing its respiration process.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and curiosity our students have shown this term, and we look forward to seeing what the next term brings!
