We have had a very busy start to the year in Year 6! In History, we have been learning all about WWII. We have found out about the causes of the war and have carried out some research on the Blitz. The children produced an information page using the information that they had found out. As well as this, we have been practising our understanding of chronology by creating timeline of key events during the war.
In Science the class have been fascinated when learning about our bodies and the circulatory system. We have identified the body parts which make up the circulatory system and have focused on finding out more about the function of the heart. The children worked hard to produce diagrams and information pages about these.
In art we used our knowledge of the Blitz to create a silhouette. We painted a sunset background and used black paper to create the silhouette skyline and figures. This week, we have started to look at Pablo Picasso. We played a game of ‘Roll a Picasso’ to create different Picasso inspired faces. We also practised blending oil pastels which will help us to create a portrait next week.
Year 6 teachers have been impressed with the Y6 children’s attitude, agility and application to the tasks in PE this year. We have been creative with developing our ball skills and have moderated and refined a small-sided game: Throw Tennis.
We have been lucky with the weather so far as well!
