Children with higher emotional intelligence:
  • have greater success with making and keeping friends
  • have better concentration at school
  • are more able to calm down when upset or angry
  • tend to have fewer childhood illnesses

This hour long workshop shows you how to help your child develop emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ!

WHERE: Brookside School Hall - just walk down the side of the building and come straight into the hall.

WHEN: Thursday 6th March 2025, 2pm or 6pm

Contact: If you would like to attend either of these sessions or have any questions, just email office@brooksideacademy.co.uk with "FAO Mr Ballard" in the subject box.

We will also be offering parent/carer workshops on Tuning Into Kids to help with strategies for developing vital connections with children and Understanding Anxiety and Low Mood which helps to unlock what is happening and how to help. Details to follow.

In addition to all of the above, we also recommend these self support resources and links to further help and guidance:

Being a parent carer of a child or young person with additional needs can bring extra situations which are challenging to know how to handle. To help support parent carers navigate these Somerset Parent Carer Forum have created a range of workshops based on the subjects you have said would be helpful.

The workshop will have two main parts.

  • Part 1 will provide information and ideas of things you can try (strategies).
  • Part 2 will give you time to discuss your own circumstances and form a plan of what you can try to help.

Alongside this we will also have a range of information workshops both face to face and online.  Find out more including dates and topics at Somerset Parent Carer Forum.
