The King’s Coronation in Moles 👑

We have had a superb Royal week! In learning about King Charles III; we have learnt many interesting facts, including how he wrote a children’s book and has been heir to the throne for 70 years! Can you imagine waiting that long for anything?

We have also started producing some amazing fact files!

In maths, we tackled non-unit fractions, no longer just finding Â¼ but having to find Â¾ of a number.  Can you remember how many parts you divide the number between for quarters? If I want Â¾ how many of those pieces do I need? If I give you the number 20, can you show someone at home how to bar model finding 1/4, 2/4, Â¾ and 4/4?

Turning music into pictures was our aim in computing this week, as we drew whatever we thought or felt whilst listening to Neptune from the Planet Suite. Can you remember who composed it? Once we had drawn our pictures, we looked at Google Chrome Lab again but this time explore the Kandinsky section. We used it to explore pitch (how high or low a note is) and duration (how long or short a note lasts for).

We finished our fantastic week with a day celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III. We thoroughly enjoyed many craft activities within class, before partaking in a whole school parade around the school. We all looked truly fantastic wearing our crowns and costumes, royal waving to every one as we passed by and singing Celebration. Our wonderful day was finished off with an enrichment fun activity. What an incredible day!
